Kimaiyo: Cop in tight skirt will not be punished

Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo has told a parliamentary committee that no disciplinary action will be taken against police corporal Linda Okello who has caused a storm over her official uniform.

The police boss said the matter had been dealt with administratively and the traffic police corporal had been cautioned to keep off from the skirt.

A photograph of  corporal Okello in a tight skirt was published in the Sunday Nation. The picture went viral on Facebook and Twitter.

Inspector General Kimaiyo made the remarks while responding to Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo who had expressed concerns that the policewoman, stationed at Lari police station, Kiambu county, would be disciplined for wearing the tight skirt.

Mr Kimaiyo had appeared before the committee on agriculture to answer questions on the illegal importation of sugar in the country.

His comments come hours after his deputy Grace Kaindi had accused corporal Okello of altering the size of her official uniform.

In a phone interview on Tuesday morning with QFM, Ms Kaindi said the contentious skirt had been resized,

“That is not the skirt we gave her, she worked on it. All of us are given the same uniform. Have you ever seen another one?” posed Ms Kaindi.
