KCSE shock as a record 33K candidates score E


A staggering 33,399 students scored a mean grade of E in 2016, compared to just 5,350 last year, according to the just released results.

Another 149,929 got D- in 2016, compared to 48,658 last year, while 112,135 scored D plain compared to 79,555 last year.

The detailed analysis of the 2016 exam results shows that 80,951 students managed D+ compared to 79,157 in the previous year.

Some 61,026 scored C- in 2016 compared to 74,115 in 2015, while 44,792 managed a C plain in 2016 and 64,913 in 2015.

Education CS Fred Matiang’i announced that only 88,929 scored between A and C+ (compared to 169,492 n 2015) and that all will be absorbed in the local universities.
