High Court Judge bans use of alcoblow, orders refund to affected motorists

An earlier version of this story indicated that a High Court Judge had banned the use of alcoblow to test motorists driving under the influence of alcohol.

We wish to state that the story was an April Fool’s Day prank. The alcoblow gadget is still in use to test motorists driving under the influence of alcohol.

In the story, we claimed that a High Court Judge J.X Ogolla had on Friday ruled that the gadgets used in the drunk-driving operations across the country were faulty and could not be relied on to give accurate readings on the amount of alcohol consumed by those targeted in the tests.

Further, that in his ruling at the Kibera Law Courts, the Judge ordered for an immediate refund to motorists who were nabbed in the operations.

In truth, no High Court Judge sits sat at the Kibera Law Courts.

Curious Nairobians contacted our newsroom on telephone number 0719038391 to inquire on the veracity of the story.

We hope the story made your April Fools day and thank you for your continued support.
