Githu Muigai resigns as Attorney General


Attorney General Githu Muigai has resigned.

President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the resignation on Tuesday afternoon in a Twitter post.

Mr Kenyatta nominated Justice Paul Kihara, the president of the Court of Appeal to replace Prof Muigai.

Prof Muigai has served as the AG since August 2011 after taking over from former AG Amos Wako.

The head of state has also nominated Kennedy Ogeto as Solicitor General and appointed incumbent Njee Muturi as Deputy Chief of Staff.

President’s constitutional affairs adviser Abdikadir Mohammed has been nominated as Ambassador to South Korea.
