Gangster shot dead in Nairobi’s Shauri Moyo estate


A suspected gangster was shot dead in Shauri Moyo estate in Nairobi on Thursday and a homemade revolver and machete recovered from the scene.

The gangster, who was in the company of three accomplices, is reported to have been part of a robbery at a bridge that connects Majengo and Shauri Moyo.

The police promptly responded to reports of the incident from members of the public but when police confronted them they defied orders to surrender.

The deceased is reported to have drawn a homemade gun and fired at the police who were forced to return fire killing him as his accomplices fled towards Blue estate slums.

The body of the deceased, who was identified as Mohamed Sadique alias Sadico, was moved to Nairobi City Mortuary.

FOUND DEAD

Elsewhere, a man of Somalia origin was found dead on Thursday morning by hotel workers at Topas Hotel on Moi Avenue in Nairobi.

According to the hotel manager, who reported the incident, the man appeared unwell when he checked in the hotel but locked himself in his room.

On Thursday morning when the hotel staff forced the door open, they found the deceased lying on the floor.

Police said they found a Somalia diplomatic passport and a Mount Kenya University student ID in the room although there were no visible injuries on the body which was taken to City Mortuary.
