Dog miraculously saves grandma from rape ordeal

By KNA June 30th, 2016 1 min read

Believe it or not: A 79–year-old woman was Wednesday evening rescued from a rape attempt by a dog that was trailing her along a footpath, which scared off the would-be rapist.

The elderly woman from Chepsiria sub location in Uasin Gishu County said a man pounced on her as walked to her son’s residence through a footpath in a maize plantation.

The woman said someone grabbed her and held her mouth and started dragging her into the plantation while attempting to undress her. Just then, a dog passed by and the would-be rapist ran off thinking they were being trailed.

The lucky granny reported the incident to the area Chief Thomas Kiplagat, who said the description she gave that the suspect wore no shoes and had blue torn trouser jeans, fitted a herds boy and a farm hand at a neighbour’s farm.

Mr Kiplagat and village elders mobilised residents to look for the two suspects who were apprehended and taken to Kapsoiya police station for further investigation.
