Civil servants ordered to return to work

The Cabinet Secretary of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Sicily Kariuki has ordered all civil servants to report back to work immediately.

“The government is committed to ensure the full and immediate resumption of services to the public,” she said in a public notice published August 10, that was also dispatched to newsrooms Thursday.

She said that only Tuesday, August 8, had been set aside as a public holiday to accord Kenyans the opportunity to vote.

VOTING PROCESS

“It is appreciated that the voting process is now complete. Kenyans are back to their normal business and are already seeking services from the public offices,” she said in the notice.

“Public servants are therefore called upon to ensure that they are available in their duty stations to offer the requisite services to the public.”

Most public offices and private businesses have remained shut two days after the electoral process took place on Tuesday, even as many adopted a wait and see attitude towards the lull observed after the elections.
