French retail giant Carrefour has slapped a ban on a white woman who racially abused a Kenyan woman and threw her shopping on the floor at the Hub in Karen.

Wangu Wa Muendo had narrated on social media how she was racially abused by the woman at Carrefour hypermarket. Ms Muendo claimed the supermarket’s management refused to come to her aid during the incident.

On Tuesday, Carerfour acknowledged that an incident occurred between two of their customers. This was confirmed by a review of the CCTV footage at The Hub store.

“We are disturbed by what we saw and heard. As a result we met with the affected customer and assured her of our support in resolving this matter through official channels,” the statement read.

Carrefour said they have involved the police to investigate the incident and has provided a witness and video footage of the incident.

“At Carrefour we do not condone racism or any other form of discrimination, at any time in any of our locations. The instigator of the incident is no longer welcome at any of Carrefour stores in Kenya.”
