Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has taken a swipe at Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing him of selling false hopes to the Kamba people.

Governor Mutua declared that Mr Musyoka stands no chance of being nominated as the Nasa presidential candidate in the 2022 general elections.

Speaking at Kakuyuni town in Kangundo on Wednesday, the governor said Mr Musyoka will be subjected to nominations instead of being handed a direct presidential ticket.

“Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been short changed by the National Super Alliance and its flag bearer Raila Odinga,” said Mutua.

VOTING BLOCK

“If Odinga wins the presidency, Kalonzo will not get a direct ticket to be the alliance flag bearer in 2022 but will be subjected to nominations. And with western Kenya having a larger voting block than eastern, the most likely candidate will be Musalia Mudavadi.”

Nasa principals had in 2013 signed a memorandum of understanding in which Mr Odinga would be a one-term president and subsequently support former Mr Musyoka for presidency in 2022.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader pledged his allegiance to President Uhuru Kenyatta, committing to campaign for the president’s re-election in the October 17 presidential election.
