A brilliant piece of advice to parents by the Education department in South Africa has excited Kenyans.
The public notice, which falls short of pointing an accusing finger at parents for failing to teach their children good manners at home and leaving the task to teachers, has been circulated countless times on social media in Kenya.
In a cheeky notice, the Western Cape Government Education department reminds parents to ensure that they impart on their children good behavioral characteristics at home.
These included, teaching their children polite words like, thank you, please you are welcomed, sorry and thank you.

Also, the notice tells the parents that it is at home that children learn to be honest, on time, diligent, show friends their sympathy as well as show utmost respect for their elders and their teachers.
On the other hand, the ministry says, at school, the teachers are only mandated to teach, language, math, history, geography, physics, sciences and physical education.
They only reinforce the education that children receive at home from their parents.
The notice comes as a reality check to most parents in the 21st century who often leave most parenting work to teachers in schools and churches as they get swamped with work.
